The busiest group of destinations. Subtropical gorges begin 30-40 minutes from Batumi: Queen Tamar's bridge and the waterfall in Makhuntseti, Mirveti waterfall with a walk through a boxwood forest, the confluence of the Chorokhi and Adjaristskali rivers, the fortresses of Gvara and Petra. Higher into the mountains sit the Goderdzi alpine botanical garden and highland villages where herds graze at 2000 meters in summer. Most Adjara routes fit into half a day or a day and work well with children: short drives, many stops, honey, wine and chacha tastings on the way.
These are full-day trips: Martvili canyon with a boat ride, Prometheus cave with its underground halls, the Nokalakevi hot springs, the magnetic sands of Ureki and Shekvetili dendrological park with its sequoias.
