Discover the most unusual places in Western Georgia in just one day. You will explore underground wonders, legendary abandoned sanatoriums, the atmosphere of an ancient city, Georgian winemaking, and a seaside coast with unique magnetic sands. A rich and immersive journey that reveals Georgia from many different perspectives.

Excursion plan

  • 8:30 - Departure from Batumi
    Our comfortable minivan or minibus will pick you up from your Batumi address or the nearest stop. A comfortable and safe journey awaits, allowing you to fully relax and enjoy the trip.
  • 9:30 - Departure from Kobuleti
    You will need to go to the nearest stop on the main David Aghmashenebeli Avenue.
  • 10:30 - A stop for a snack at the Sajavakho cafe (15 min)
    A stop to rest from the road and have a snack with tea or coffee
  • 12:00 - Prometheus Cave (1 hour)
    Prometheus Cave is one of Georgia's most famous natural attractions. As you walk through its underground chambers, you'll see impressive stalactites, stalagmites, underground rivers, and colorful lighting that creates a truly magical atmosphere.
  • 13:20 - Tskaltubo Central Park (30 min)
    Tskaltubo Central Park is an atmospheric place steeped in the history of a resort town, once one of the USSR's main spa centers. Today, it's a quiet park for strolls amidst ancient architecture and greenery, evoking the spirit of a bygone era.
  • Stalin's Sanatorium
    Stalin's sanatorium in Tskaltubo (Source No. 6) is one of the most famous buildings of the Soviet resort, associated with the history of high-ranking guests. Today, it is an atmospheric abandoned building, impressive in its scale and preserved Soviet-era architecture.
  • Abandoned Bathhouse No. 8 in Tskaltubo
    The abandoned Bathhouse No. 8 in Tskaltubo is one of the most atmospheric buildings of the former resort. The preserved Soviet-era architecture and the sense of abandoned space create a unique, almost cinematic atmosphere.
  • 13:50 - Abandoned Centrosoyuz Sanatorium (Tskhaltubo) (15 min)
    The abandoned Centrosoyuz sanatorium in Tskaltubo is an impressive space with tall columns, arches, and open halls, perfect for atmospheric photos. Part of the complex is closed, but the accessible areas provide a powerful visual impact and a sense of the scale of Soviet architecture.
  • 14:15 - Georgian winery with a museum and cellar (30 min)
    The Georgian winery, museum, and cellar are an atmospheric complex of ancient wooden architecture, showcasing the history of winemaking and traditional Georgian life. Here you can see ancient qvevri and antique objects, learn about winemaking traditions, and, if desired, try local wine at a tasting.
  • 14:45 - Lunch at the winery (1 hour)
    A lunch break to recharge. Lunch is served at the winery's on-site restaurant.
  • 16:10 - Bagrat Temple (20 min)
    The Bagrati Cathedral in Kutaisi is a majestic 11th-century cathedral and one of the main symbols of Georgian history. Situated on a hill, it impresses with its scale, ancient architecture, and panoramic views of Kutaisi. The cathedral was once listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • 16:40 - Kutaisi - A Walk Through the City Center (1 hour)
    Kutaisi is one of Georgia's oldest cities, boasting a cozy historic center that combines architecture, pedestrian streets, and views of the Rioni River. Here, you'll have free time for a leisurely stroll and exploring the city's atmosphere.
  • The central square of Kutaisi
    Kutaisi's central square is the city's main square, featuring a modern Colchis fountain and architecture that blends historical and contemporary styles. It is also home to the Lado Meskhishvili Georgian Drama Theatre, one of the city's cultural symbols.
  • White Bridge
    The White Bridge in Kutaisi is one of the city's symbols and a popular spot for strolls and photographs. The pedestrian bridge over the Rioni River offers beautiful views of the embankment and the city center. A sculpture of "Ambreduzo-Meduzo"—a boy with hats—is located right on the bridge. The guide will tell you an interesting story about the city.
  • Cable car
    The Kutaisi Cable Car is a functioning Soviet-era cable car, well-preserved and completely safe. A ride costs a symbolic 3 lari. At the top, you'll enjoy panoramic views of the city, the river, and the surrounding mountains, as well as a small amusement park.
  • Botanical Garden
    The Botanical Garden (Besarion Gabashvili Culture and Recreation Park) in Kutaisi is a cozy little park with a Soviet-era atmosphere. It features simple but functional rides, old swings, and ice cream stands. The park is especially suitable for families with small children, and its affordable prices make it a pleasant place for a short stroll and relaxation.
  • 19:30 - Ureki beach with magnetic sand (20 min)
    Ureki Beach, with its magnetic sands, is a unique natural location where you can stroll barefoot through the dark, therapeutic sands and take atmospheric photos. Swimming is not included in the itinerary; this is a stop for a short rest and a break before returning to Batumi.
  • 20:50 - Return to Batumi
    You will be transported back to your address, completing an unforgettable journey.

You should bring warm clothing; the excursion trail to Prometheus Cave runs at a depth of approximately 80 meters. Even in the summer months, the temperature doesn't rise above 17 degrees Celsius.
