What awaits you
Gomismta is a summer village in the mountains of Guria at about 2,100 m. The ridges around it form a bowl that holds the clouds, so in the evening a sea of cloud often lies below the viewpoint and the sun sets right into it. There are no historical monuments here: people come for the view and the sunset.
The day is built around that evening. We leave after lunch to arrive in time for the best light and stay at the top with a picnic until sunset. The car takes you right up to the viewpoint and there is no walking uphill, so the trip suits children and older travellers too. The last part of the road is a steep serpentine; the driver takes it calmly and makes stops.
Nobody can guarantee clouds and a clear sunset - these are mountains. But rain in Batumi does not mean it is grey at the top: bad weather often stays below the summit. You travel with a driver who speaks Russian; there is no guide in the programme. The group is no larger than 14 people because of the mountain road.
What to bring
- A warm sweater or jacket: at about 2,100 m it gets cold in the evening even in summer, especially in the wind.
- Comfortable closed shoes: the viewpoint is grass and stones.
- Sunglasses and sunscreen: at altitude the sun burns harder than on the coast.
- Motion sickness tablets if mountain roads are hard on you, and some cash in lari. Mobile signal at the top is weak, so let your family know in advance.
How to book
About 3 days before the trip we will message you with how to pay the deposit. The deposit is the cost of the picnic: we buy the food for it in advance.
How the day goes
Group guests are picked up at stops near hotels, private guests at the hotel door.
We pick up guests staying in Kobuleti.
A short stop before the climb into the mountains: stretch your legs, have a coffee, use the toilet.
A stop on the serpentine: after the climb the car needs to cool down, and you have time to photograph the views and the loops of road below.
The car drives right onto the viewpoint, and from there you pick your spot. The picnic has chicken and pork shashlik, vegetables, fruit, bread and drinks. We stay until sunset: the slopes and the village houses turn red, and the sun goes down into the clouds.
A stop after coming down from the mountains to stretch before the drive home.
We bring you back to where we picked you up: the stops near hotels or your hotel door.
- The times in the programme are approximate. On the road a lot depends on the traffic, the weather and the pace of the group, so we leave a margin - no need to hurry at any stop.
- The guide or driver sometimes changes the order of the stops - for example, to reach a place before the crowds. All places of the programme stay in the trip.

- Plans changed - we refund the prepayment in full if you let us know no later than 48 hours before the trip starts.
- The group gathers from 9 people. If there are not enough people for your date or a storm is coming, we will warn you in advance and offer another date or another trip on the same day - this happens rarely.
- The prepayment can be made by transfer from a Visa, Mastercard or Mir card from any country - Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries, Europe - in rubles, lari, euros or dollars. Or in cash at our office in Batumi - 63 Tedo Sakhokia St., by arrangement with the manager.
