What awaits you
This is a day in Imereti and Samegrelo, north of Batumi: underground, in a gorge and in hot water by a river. The road is flat, along the highway with no mountain hairpins, but it is long. That is why there are only three places, and each one gets enough time. On the way the guide talks about the regions you pass through and answers questions. The guide speaks Russian; if you need English, ask when booking.
Expect a fair amount of walking. The cave has stairs with handrails, the canyon has paths and steps along the drop. There are no hard climbs, and children are fine if they cope well with a long day in a car. Rain makes no difference in the cave, and at the canyon and the spring the weather is often better than in Batumi.
In the evening - the Nokalakevi spring: hot sulphur water on the pebble bank of a river. You can find a warm pool and lie in it after the walks before the drive home.
What to bring
- A sweater or windbreaker: the cave is cool.
- Comfortable closed flat-soled shoes for the cave and the canyon.
- A swimsuit, towel and water shoes for the spring: the bank is pebbly and there are no changing cabins, so people change in the car or under a towel.
- Cash in lari for tickets, lunch and the boat if you want it.
How the day goes
We pick you up at stops near hotels and send the stop address the evening before.
On the way we collect guests staying in Kobuleti.
A roadside cafe in the village of Sajavakho on the highway to Kutaisi. Time for coffee, a bite to eat and a stretch after the early start.
You go into the cave as a group with a park guide, who is included in the ticket. Six halls with coloured lighting, stalactites and stalagmites, and stairs with handrails between the halls. The last section can be done by boat on the underground Kumi River or on foot. The exit is in a different place, and a bus takes you back to the entrance.
Lunch at a winery on the way; you order Georgian dishes from the menu. Optional tasting of the wines made here.
The Abasha River has cut a narrow gorge in the limestone, with turquoise water and waterfalls. The route follows paths and footbridges along the cliff, with plenty of steps. Optional boat ride between the rocks. If the canyon is closed after heavy rain, there is a replacement nearby, such as the Martvili waterfall.
Sulphur water comes out onto the pebble bank of the Tekhura River and mixes with the cold river water. Pick a pool at the temperature you like or sit under the hot stream as if under a shower. The place is wild: no changing cabins or showers, and entry is free.
We drop you off at the same stops in Kobuleti and Batumi where we picked you up in the morning.
- The times in the programme are approximate. On the road a lot depends on the traffic, the weather and the pace of the group, so we leave a margin - no need to hurry at any stop.
- The guide or driver sometimes changes the order of the stops - for example, to reach a place before the crowds. All places of the programme stay in the trip.

Booking terms
- You can ask questions before booking - it does not oblige you to anything.
- Parties of 5 or more secure their seats with a prepayment of 20 GEL per person: whether the trip takes place depends on a large party. Smaller parties pay the guide on the day of the trip.
- A private trip is secured with a prepayment of 100 GEL.
- Plans changed - we refund the prepayment in full if you let us know no later than 48 hours before the trip starts.
- The group gathers from 10 people. If there are not enough people for your date or a storm is coming, we will warn you in advance and offer another date or another trip on the same day - this happens rarely.
- The prepayment can be made by transfer from a Visa, Mastercard or Mir card from any country - Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries, Europe - in rubles, lari, euros or dollars. Or in cash at our office in Batumi - 63 Tedo Sakhokia St., by arrangement with the manager.
- You give the rest to the guide in cash in lari on the day of the trip: the guide does not accept other currencies or cards.
- Every third out-of-town excursion in a group - the third, sixth, ninth - is 15 GEL cheaper. The discount is personal: we count the trips of each participant within a year, the next year the count starts again; it goes to the person for whom this trip is the third, and those travelling with us for the first time pay the full price. City sightseeing tours do not count; the discount does not apply to private trips. Mention the discount when booking - the manager will check the previous requests.
