Finding an affordable hotel in Tbilisi is easy: according to 2026 travel guides, a room in a 2-3 star hotel costs about 20-35 US dollars a night in winter (November to March) and about 35-60 in summer. Where to look
Avlabari, on the left bank of the Mtkvari opposite the Old Town, has a metro station and quiet residential streets; guides list hotels here from about 25 dollars. Saburtalo is a residential area of apartment blocks with its own metro line, roughly 30-40 % cheaper than the Old Town. What to check
- A metro station within 5-10 minutes' walk: a ride costs 1 GEL for 90 minutes with a Metromoney card (2026), far less than a daily taxi.
- Air conditioning in summer and heating in winter: July and August days can go above 30 °C.
- Stairs and a lift: many streets in Sololaki and the Old Town are on a slope.
- Breakfast and a kitchen: if breakfast is not included, a kettle or a shared kitchen helps.
Other options
Mid-range chain hotels such as ibis Styles and Holiday Inn give a predictable standard.
